COME TO THE PARTY THIS FESTIVE SEASON
Centrestage heralds in the fun season by kicking off its brand new musical shindig salute to all things festive with a special performance of Strictly Partytime 2 on 27 November at the Boardwalk's Vodacom Amphitheatre, with proceeds of this evening going towards the Herald Christmas Cheer fund.
The 27th November performance is special for more reasons than just supporting the Christmas Cheer fund. On this evening, funnyman Gino Fabbri is an additional bonus - he will entertain with his crazy characters at interval - and the Boardwalk have also "come to the party" - they will be offering patrons the opportunity to roll 3 dice and win R5000 - and furthermore, each ticket holder who participates will also be given R50 worth of gaming credits to enjoy in the casino after the show.
The new edition of the celebratory show once again features the popular Centrestage All-Star Band, this time fronted by the ultimate purveyor of all things party-like, Melvyn Matthews, who brings Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley along to feel-good revelry. Clifford Kleb and Tara-Jane Metzler will also be up front, inciting the action.
The dance-floor area in front of the band will house the more adventurous party animals, while the show will also provide plenty of musical moments to sit back and enjoy.
The Strictly Partytime concept proved very popular last year where it was staged for the first time at the Vodacom Amphitheatre. Bosses are encouraged to treat their staff to a meal at one of the Boardwalk restaurants before taking the party to the show.
The main run of the show continues until 8 December.
The show itself comprises of a mixture of rock n roll party favourites, with show-case segments such as Wayne Kallis's dead-ringer vocal Rod Stewart impersonation and musical director Donovan Hattingh up front as Joe Cocker and Neil Diamond.
The music is also brought right up to date with inclusions such current chart-topper Mika's Big Girl You Are Beautiful.
The Centrestage All-Star Band has enjoyed a golden year - from their national Magnificent 7 successes to their well received 21 Years of Radio Hits show, they have drawn in the crowds by providing an entertaining, high energy mix of popular music, combining musical integrity with an infectious sense of on-stage fun which never sees them taking themselves too seriously.

If last year's rollercoaster celebration of celebrations is anything to go by, the dance-floor in front of the band will be full of audience members who will once again throw their inhibitions away for the night and dance like never before to their favourite sing-along party songs.
As is fast becoming an annual tradition, the 2 & 1/2 hour show starts at 20h30 to allow groups to catch a meal before the show.
The Centresatge All-Star band also comprises of Candy G on keyboards, Michael Mc Auley on bass and Lelane Fourie on vocals, with new-comer to the band, Derick Badenhorst on drums.
From evergreen favourites such as My Girl, Runaround Sue, Rock n Roll Music, Shake Rattle and Roll, Pretty Woman, Brown Eyed Girl, La Bamba, Speedy Gonzales, Mr Bass Man, Cracklin Rosie, Maggie May, Baby Jane, Do Wah Diddy, Blueberry Hill, Brown Eyed Girl and Green Door, to Land Down Under, Walking on Sunshine, Price, Beds are Burning, Quando, I Love the Nightlife, Buffalo Soldier, Radar Love and I Like the Way You Move, the good-time memories will all come flooding back.
Tickets cost R89.50 for weekday shows and R99.50 on weekends.
Selected booking will be open at Computicket from 1 November – for preferential advance block bookings of 10 or over, contact Wendy on 082 661 6921 or the Centrestage office on 041-3683093
