Rory McLaren joined the Centrestage entertainment stable at the beginning of the year and has already traveled the country and performed in several high profile corporate events for the local production company.
He sings and plays keyboard in the popular Beatles tribute Your Ticket To Ride and before that joined forces with Donna Africa for When 2 Stars Collide
, both shows which will also be featured at the festival under the Centrestage banner this year.
In Robbin the Buble, McLaren uses his magnificent voice to pay tribute to two of the greatest vocalists of this decade.
"People have always likened my voice to that of Robbie Williams, and his song 'Angel' must be one of the most requested songs in my repertoire" says McLaren.
Other Robbie Williams favorourites such as Feel, Strong, Supreme, You're the One, Something Beautiful, Let Me Entertain You, Rock DJ and Better, are given the superlative McLaren treatment. Williams's takes Mac The Knife and Mr Bojangles from his Swing While You're Winning album are also included.
In contrast, the Buble selection has a sophistication and golden voiced tone which sets itself clearly apart - the beautifully modernized big-band and simplified rearrangements of songbook classics are stunningly performed by McLaren, who also takes a turn behind the piano.
Thus, "You'll Never Find", "For Once in My Life", "Put Your Head on My Shoulder", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "Summerwind", "Moondance", "The Way You Look Tonight", "Save the Last Dance For Me", "Fever", "Sway" and the immensely popular "Home" and "Feeling Good" are all included in the hour long tribute.
