He has impressed South African audiences with his keen observational humour (where he has been known to wonder off into some surreal territory) and spot-on impressionistic repertoire. His novel approach to comedy has earned him great acclaim from many of South Africa’s veteran comedians.

After being invited to perform as a supporting act for Joe Parker’s “First Farewell Tour”, Joe said of Martin in a recent interview: “This young lad is the brightest prospect I have seen since Barry Hilton.”

Martin has been described as “South African to the fingertips” and his reputation has grown significantly along with his vast repertoire of distinctive South African banter.

His defined brand of comedy is a continuous favourite on the SA stand-up club scene, and has been described by a Cape Town press critic as "Novel, exciting…Heading for stardom”.

Martin has subsequently become a firm favourite for corporate functions nationwide, and is capable of delivering equally hilarious acts in both English and Afrikaans, covering a wide spectrum of typical South African life.

Although Martin has many a memorable name to attribute his influence, locally John Vlismas and Joe Parker are to thank for his comedic inception.

Stand-up comedy is the most direct route he has found to connect with an audience.

“Comedy happens when you want to be an accountant AND a rock star”, he says.
