ESCAPE PAY TRIBUTE TO WESTLIFE AND ROBBIE WILLIAMS

A brand new musical tribute show which is guaranteed to appeal to the entire family opens at the Boardwalk Amphitheatre next week before moving to Lighthouses, as the fresh new Centrestage boyband Escape salutes two of the biggest icons in music today - Westlife and Robbie Williams.

‘The Great Escape - A Tribute to Westlife and Robbie Williams’ moves from current chart topping rock and pop hits to popular ballads, big band standards and even includes a segment of revived 60’s rock n roll, offering the kind of varied repertoire and ever-changing palette of genres and styles which will strike a chord in both young and old.

Making the musical magic happen on stage is an energetic five-some of talented young Centrestage protégés who have each developed enormously as performers since the group’s debut a year ago.

Escape have subsequently appeared to critical acclaim in a number of high profile corporate events, festivals and parties and have even fronted the Centrestage All-Star band in one of their most recent hit shows Rocking Through the Decades.

Here they impressed with their individual vocal sounds and group performance diversity, switching effortlessly between the slick 1950’s Sha Na Na vocals and choreography and the street-smart styling of today’s Black Eyed Peas.

Wayne Kallis acts as musical director, overseeing and putting the boys through their vocal paces and arranging and interpreting the music they perform.

The Escape lineup often has the girls swooning: last year’s Idols Top 14 finalist , live-wire Thuba Myeki, is joined by the ruggedly quiet, yet explosive lady-killer Arno Erasmus, whilst debonair keyboard player Will Jenson accompanies the funky dance-floor demon Emile Doubel - and poster boy Jace Bowren completes their lineup.

Showcasing the explosive youthful energy of Robbie Williams contrasted against the beautiful ensemble vocal textures of the Westlife, no less than 40 songs have been selected from album hits, live performances and stand-out covers performed by these musical luminaries.

Westlife fans can expect all their greatest hits, such as I Lay My Love on You, World of our own, Fool Again, Bop Bop Baby, When You’re Looking Like That and Uptown Girl, with their trademark power ballads such as My Love, Queen of My Heart, Tonight, If I Let You Go, What About Now, Unbreakable, Swear It Again and Flying Without Wings included in medley form amongst others.

Robbie Williams supporters can look forward to the older rockers such as Let Me Entertain You, Rock DJ, Strong, Love Supreme, Something Beautiful and Better Man (the latter accompanied by the multi-talented Erasmus on acoustic guitar) whilst the more recent She’s Madonna, Advertising Space and You Know me are also included in the sizzling lineup.

Even a handful of Robbie William’s ex-group Take That hits are included, such as Back For Good and their version of the Bee Gees’ classic How Deep is Your Love, as well as selections from William’s big band salute album Swing When You’re Winning and the Westlife equivalent Allow Us to Be Frank.

‘The Great Escape - A Tribute to Westlife and Robbie Williams’ promises to showcase some spectacular vocal performances in the faced-paced, varied and entertaining style for which Centrestage has become synonymous.
