In a Centrestage first, the popular entertainment company has launched its brand new, fresh-faced boy band “Escape”.
Their next show will be The Great Escape - COMING SOON!
Promising to make swooning women weak in the knees, the highly anticipated and extremely talented singing 5-some, under the musical direction of Wayne Kallis, is set to make waves on the local entertainment scene.
Escape is made up of five of PE’s hottest young performers from the Eastern Cape as identified by Centrestage after an exhaustive talent hunt.
Idols top 14 finalist, Thuba Mayeki, was introduced to PE audiences recently in his sneak preview role in Divas are Forever, where the ladies’ man captured the hearts of the audience and was given standing ovations for his big Josh Groban styled voice and charming on-stage personality.
The rest of the performers make their debut Centrestage appearances in Escape.
Jace Bowren has a strong theatre background – he is your typical boy next door with his sporty appearance and youthful flavor. Arno Erasmus is the shy, innocent rocking guitarist, while Emile Doubell, also sporting a theatre and singing background, is the mysterious, quiet romantic seducer in the band.
The more experienced Will Jensen, who also joins the main Centrestage All-Star Band at the same time on keyboards and vocals, finishes off the exciting new Escape lineup.
Centrestage All-Star Band front-man Wayne Kallis has been putting the band through their paces and has introduced them to the grueling regimen involved in preparing for a show at the performance level which has come to be expected from Centrestage productions.
“My initial challenge was to determine the guys’ individual strengths and to give them each a unique role. As they started to shine in their own respect, instead of molding them to the songs, we were able to start molding the songs for their own individual strengths”, says Kallis.
“Coming from the ultra experienced Centrestage band which has a superb skill base and work ethic, it was surprising for me to see how far the new group came in such a short time due to the exceptionally hard work that they have put in.”

Escape will wow crowds with all the latest boy band hits, but will also show their ability to spice up and rearrange some 70’s and 80’s classics to give them a new boy-band feel.
Songs such as How Deep is Your Love, Uptown Girl, Back for Good, Larger than Life, When You’re Looking Like That, Love is All Around, I Want it That Way, Unbreakable and Flying without Wings all form part of their popular repertoire.
